WeightBoost

Many people are unaware that Strength Training can actually burn more fat calories than a cardio workout! Why? Because larger muscles burn larger amounts of calories and fat! With cardio, calorie burning stops as soon as the workout is over. But with high-repetition weight training, calories continue to burn long afterwards. Strength training combined with a healthy diet and cardiovascular training burns fat far more than cardio and good nutrition alone. So get your weight on! A LifeBoost trainer will bring everything you’ll need, including free-weights, straps, bands, and/or balls. 45 minutes

A quick note about kids and weight training: there is a myth floating around which indicates that kids engaging in strength training can sustain physical development issues. All of the findings state otherwise! The majority of case studies show that moderate strength training among youth helps to strengthen bones and develop a healthier bone and muscle structure. Kids who develop the habit of light to moderate exercise are less likely to develop high cholesterol, CHD, respiratory illnesses, or obesity. They may also avoid joint issues which can be exacerbated by extra weight.

BoxBoost

Boxing equals self-confidence. Boxing equals discipline. And best of all, boxing equals fat loss! A boxing based workout sets calories on fire, burning through fat even while resting during intervals. The BoxBoost workout combines pro boxing techniques with jumping rope, squats, and footwork. Boxing improves balance and coordination, self-esteem and confidence, and has the added psychological benefit of building our personal power. 45 minutes

TrackBoost

Did you know that runners typically report being happier and less stressed than people who don’t exercise regularly? Running improves your cardiovascular fitness, increases muscle tone, and is a heck of a fat-burner! It has the added effect of decreasing your risk of a stroke or heart attack, type II diabetes, and heart disease. Running sharpens coordination and fills us with a sense of empowerment. It’s the ultimate mindful workout which keeps us in the moment! Classes combine sprints and longer runs with abdominal and upper body strength training. 45 minutes

SwimBoost (available only for those with home pools)

We can’t say enough about the benefits of taking a dip! Swimming is a comprehensive workout that affects every part of the body. Doing laps in correct form not only builds lean muscle, but is one of the best aerobic workouts you can engage in.  Swimming reduces stress, as it demands the development of yogic, rhythmic breathing. Easy on the joints, swimming is a low impact workout which boosts mood, improves sleep, and can help manage weight. 45 minutes

BasketBoost (no hoop needed!)

This class is based on the skills and techniques needed for the team sport of basketball. Developing strengths in the areas of endurance running, jumping, and dribbling provides a total body workout, and can also prepare you or your child to get on a team. BasketBoost improves motor skills, ankle stability, coordination and agility, and is a great way to challenge our lower body muscles and joints. Get ready to think on your feet as you dribble, catch, pass, and ‘make baskets’ in this fun, innovative class! 45 minutes

FenceBoost

On guard! Get ready to rattle your sabre and fancy your footwork with this workout that’s as fun as it is challenging. Great for kids and grown-ups, fencing builds stamina, strength, and coordination. A sense of body awareness naturally occurs with repeated practice, which transcends beyond the sport to healthy living overall. During this vigorous workout, you’ll likely find fencing to be a fantastic stress reliever as your mind puts the focus on technique and strategy. The sweat and the time will fly—you’ll be done with your workout before you know it! Fencing enhances strategic thinking and discipline, and is a wonderful confidence booster. 45 minutes

Physical activity (including aerobic and anaerobic training) isn’t only beneficial for the adolescent’s body, but may also have a positive impact on their brain and mood.

Many of the case studies show that 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous daily physical exercise is beneficial for the adolescent’s brain function and helps children focus during study. Additionally, engaging in sports helps to lessen or avoid depression, reduce stress levels, and encourage discipline. Daily sport activity can also build self-confidence and reduce fear of failure in children.

Kids involved in team sports benefit from significant advantages later in life. Children learn real-time discipline, strategic and quick thinking, and communication skills that set them up for success. Young athletes understand the importance of paying attention to others and responding accordingly, and eventually develop the attitude necessary to be a ‘team player.’
