Nutrition is the study of nutrients in food, how the body uses nutrients, and the relationship between diet, health, and disease.

Nutrition is not a mathematical equation in which two plus two is four.
The food we put in our mouths doesn’t control our nutrition—not entirely. What our bodies do with that food does.
T. Colin Campbell, PhD
Often, nutrition is mentioned in the context that the body is usually in a neutral state of energy. Meaning energy intake = calories expenditure (calories eaten = calories burned) or in other words; calories in = calories out. This stable state equates to no weight gain and no weight loss. The concept is simple; however, it can be a struggle to execute. As humans we are all innately the same, yet because we lead very different lives each of us has individual nutritional needs.
After understanding a bit more about nutrition it is safe to say:
Nutrition is a chain or group of essential materials in the food we eat which supplies, supports, maintains and balances human life and our health.
When we break the balance of these nutrients in our body, an atmosphere that is more susceptible to illness and it's promotion is created.
